Forum software update

Postby ben » Tue Feb 02, 2010 5:43 pm

Hi,

I've finally got round to moving our forum software over to a new platform. You may need to reset your password when you first log-in. You will also need to reset your profile avatar. You can do this as follows once you have logged in:

- Go to User Control Panel
- Select the Profile tab
- Select Edit avatar
- Select a new avatar or upload a new one

Let me know if you experience any issues.

Ben

PS - apologies to those users who have posted in the last couple of days - these posts weren't included in the transfer.

Hello Ben
I think I should have posted my Albums query here!
I cannot find any picture albums, are these available?
It would be a loss to the site, and its interest, if they were lost.

Hi Henry,

The albums will be back - I'm just devilishly busy with the day job at the moment - but will endeavour to get them back online soon.

Apologies for the site downtime. I had installed the new gallery software - but hadn't checked it was working properly. Thanks to Henry for pointing out that the site was down. I've disabled the gallery for now until I get time to check it out properly.

Nice photos Mark.

Perhaps we should simply hook our gallery into particular Flickr sets rather than duplicating the storage of images. After all, it's what Flickr does best. Thoughts?

Nice pic's Mark, that lane (near Lucknam Park) looks like the old road to me.
I remember the winter of '47 at Colerne. I was only five then, so the snow seemed exceedingly deep!

Thanks for the kind words about the photo's!

I've been using Flickr for a couple of years now and I can't really find fault with it. Maybe transfer all the images to Flickr and then set up a Colerne group?

Hello allstamps. We lived across from you, on the Ford Road (bit of a tale there). You mention the Fordson tractor with the 'spade lugs', are they the same as the wheels which were made with the cast iron 'chisel spikes'? (which I was told was because no rubber could be spared during the war?).
Through the early '40s there was one (which also had cast iron front wheels) used to power the saw in the woodshed at Lucknam Park (and no doubt used elseware, as it was not always there). The woodshed was in the wood behind the Keeper's (Mr Langford) lodge. Colonel Merry had a bit of a shakeout after the war, so I wondered if that might be the same tractor?
From memory Spirrels had the dairy?? I got on well with Stephen Spirrel (very fair boy) at school, and Jimmy Gifford from the farm near you.
I can't say I categorise memories, just part of enduring "lifes rich pageant"!! most bring a smile!
Henry.
